But still not enough. And only a week to go.

Could someone please send the art fairy to my house this week?

Art on your Sleeve

One of my first exhibitions next year is a group badge show at Stay Human Gallery. There'll be about 500 badges on show from 30 or so artists. So far the line-up includes myself, Beastman, Lisa King, Nicole Tattersall and Nickas.

My grand plan is to make all my badges originals. I'd never considered putting original art on a badge before and I must admit, I'm quite taken with the idea!

Here are the first two.

I haven't had time to think about names for these lovelies, but I'm really happy with them.

The opening night for this exhibition is Thursday 29 January (6pm onwards) and it runs until Wednesday 11 February.

My new foot fetish

I've taken the plunge and opened a new online shop on www.zazzle.com

This is the site where I had some custom shoes made for me earlier in the year - I was really impressed with the way they turned out.

You can also design shoes (and cups and aprons and mousemats) and post them for sale, so I opened a store there and have started putting my flirty, quirky girls on darling little Keds shoes.

Here's what I've designed so far:

What do you think? Wearable?

I love the little bunny peeking out from the heel on the last one. (In fact I love it so much I've ordered it for myself ;)

If you have any footwear requests, please let me know. These can easily be altered to any size between 5 to 13 and I can tweak the colours of the stitching and panels.

It really is a neat tool - well worth playing with if you have artwork of your own that you'd like to see on your feet! I only wish zazzle would team up with a high heel manufacturer - then I'd really go to town.

This weekend I'm going to check out their other custom products and see if anything would suit my girls.

Something old. Something new.

Nope, not getting married. Just getting organised.

It's taken me weeks to get a decent scan of my final piece for the group show that's been and gone and is all but forgotten! I was in the throes of a mild obsession with chickens (ever seen the book Extraordinary Chickens?) when I illustrated Fox:

So now that's out of the way, I can focus on Christmas.

I've been toying with an idea about using candy canes in a different way. Slightly cabaret. Slightly burlesque.

By the same token, I'm cautious about being too blatantly risque with a Christmas card image as this may not be the merry message everyone wants to send!

So 'Candy' may be sexy, but she's also keeping herself nice:

I've popped her in my Etsy shop as a single card, pack of 5 and pack of 10.

Have a great weekend!

Meet Marguerite and Pip

I've just put the finishing touches on two new mixed media flirts.

There's Marguerite - painted in gouache, ink and pencil - a sexy little blue-haired girl who's flicking her locks around in an oh-so flirty way.

And then there's Pip and Stanley (her pet octopus), a sweet little pink haired ocean-going lass. I posted a few in progress images of this piece here earlier. She's changed quite significantly.

Jeez I'm having fun with this at the moment.

I've been a little down lately because I'm seem to be standing in the shadows of a host of brilliant, successful people. A couple of friends have - very deservedly! - had their work published in Curvy and my gorgeous baby brother was one of the lead speakers at Semi-Permanent this year. While I'm incredibly excited for them all, it's also difficult not to feel a little left behind.

But a few brush strokes in and I tend to forget all that! And as my friend Dave keeps telling me - I have to stop trying to run before I can walk.

So I'm walking back to my painting desk right now!

Yay! New ACEOs

My original ACEOs tend to sell fairly quickly, so I'm always excited to have a new batch in store. It so much nicer to see that section with a few things in it instead of totally empty!

Here's what I've been working on over the last few days:

Capricorn (pencil and ink on card) - seemed appropriate as I am one.

Firelashes (pencil and ink on card)

Snake Charmer (pencil and ink on card) - quite a different style to my usual girls.

I'm also working on some small gouache paintings on watercolour paper. Hopefully they'll be ready to post soon. (I've learnt the hard way not to try to scan them until they're 100% dry!)

Something for me

Since opening my Etsy shop every piece of work I create ends up for sale. So when I stumbled across this amazing frame I decided it's time to draw something for myself again.

My studio is an incredible messy treasure trove of paper and odds and ends, so I rumaged around until I found a huge A2 sheet of grey/green stock and grabbed my pencil case.

I think her name is Lottie (no idea what her little friend's name is yet) and I've used my favourite green for her eyeshadow and flower. I can't wait to see what she looks like once she's done.

A bit further along...

She's done - not sure if I love her though. Rats.
