Sugar & Spice was sweet

My Sugar & Spice exhibition with Bec Winnel was great fun last night.

After staying up late on Friday night making treat bags, finishing our framing and writing a little poem for the wall, Bec and I (with lots of help from Toby and Melika from 696) spent all day positioning and repositioning and repositioning and repositioning the artwork on the walls in 696's The Yard - a gorgeous outdoor gallery space.

Here are the pics from the night (thanks to Louise Stewart for half of the photos!):

Looking into The Yard from the laneway.

The poem we wrote and decorated with odds and ends. We never did find anything appropriate for 'green bamboo'!

I saw one small child eat 5 lollipops within an hour. Sorry parents!

Grandma's hat box full of take-home treat bags

The lovely Bec Winnel

Bec and I with our well-deserved drinks.

I made the big heart years ago to decorate my flat. It's a heap of wires wrapped into a heart shape and then decorated with fairy lights. It looks much better when the sun goes down.

My friends, Nina and Bridget, came along. Check out the giant lolly bowl in the back. Our evil scheme was to get people on such a sugar rush that they wouldn't know what they were buying - mwoo ha ha ha.

'Courtship'

'Nuts About You'

'Chloe'

(Told you that light looks better at night)

All in all, we both sold about half the pieces we exhibited and got a great response from everyone. Our aim was to create a sweet exhibition that would leave people with a smile on their faces and that's exactly what happened.

:)

I hope you both had an awesome night! It looks like it would have been great. I like all your personal touches. Yet again I'm wishing Melbourne was just a little closer - to Brisbane....

I can't decide which of your pieces is my favourite now. Too many to choose from! And you're in walking distance from Outre Gallery? So jealous!!
