That's what keeps going through my head.
I'm madly in love with this piece, but I don't know where to go next. A coloured pencil dress? a cut out Indian paper dress? Perhaps just a light grey-lead pencil look to add a bit of depth.
And what about her hair? My usual gaudy colour doesn't seem right.
Maybe I'll just work on the eyes some more.
OK, I'm officially stuck.
I think she looks almost right as is. She reminds me a little of Audrey Kawasaki's style. She said of her own work (and this is probably my favourite ever art quote):
"i like her best
in the first few minutes of painting her.
when she's just barely there.
like a ghost, slowly creeping up to surface."
Anyway, I don't want to 'fill in the blanks' on this piece and I like the absence of detail in everything but the face. But something must be done...and time is ticking. I think I want to enter her in the Linden Postcard Show and the deadline is this Sunday.
If anyone has a suggestion, now's the time to make it.
