Decisions, decisions

I've got a week left (insert squeal of panic) before I send some work to LA for the Swoon show at Black Maria Gallery.

So it's decision time. I think I've figured out what I'm sending. I have one piece completed and ready to go, one almost finished and one sketch ready for colouring.

The piece that's almost finished is this one:

I spoke to Dave, my trusty art director, about it and he thought it needed another element at the top right - something that both the girl and sneaky owl could be looking at.

So I tried a second owl on tracing paper to see if it would work.

Now I've drawn and cut out my second owl and have to decide exactly where to place him in relation to the rest of the piece. I think I may wait until my frames are here so I can see how it will look in the space.

At the moment, the middle one is my preference.

I like the one on the left- it looks like the owl is dancing around her shoulder...

I also like the one in the middle. How do you get your scans so clear? Mine aways turn out grainy. I just have a regular printer/scanner though.

I like the one on the left also as it really feels more like she is look at it there and feels more balanced as whole.

Hmmm I like the one on the left also...I think having it too far away draws the eye away from the central image and its a little distracting?
I reckon if you bring the second owl closer into the central image it will balance out a bit better.

I like the middle one the best. As that is where her eye leads directly. Very cute :-D

I think I like the middle one too, but maybe bring the bird a touch closer to her so the eye doesn't wonder off to far...either way - so so stunning !!!

Thanks for all the comments. I'll wait until the frames arrive before I make a final decision, but I'm leaning towards having the bird a bit closer. Good point about drawing the eye away, Kel.

I like no second owl, then the middle one would be my next preference. The left and right ones look a little off balance, with the owl too close and then too far away. Good luck with it though, the drawing is fabo!
