Inspiration

I've been spending quite a bit of time looking through the portfolios on JedRoot lately (and no it's not a porn site, in spite of the name).

It is well worth a look if you're interested in portraiture or figurative illustration. Jed Root lets you access the portfolios of some of the world's best fashion photographers, make-up artists, hair stylists, fashion stylists and manicurists.

You're effectively flicking through the world's biggest fashion magazine. Heaven!!

How could you not be inspired?!

So after an afternoon of rooting through Jed Root (<-- that's practically poetry), I was ready to start on a new series of sketches...

I've wanted to draw a profile for some time, but haven't been able to get it right. I really like this serene figure. I found some hands on Jed Root that helped me figure out how to get this to work.

I've been listening to 'Paper Aeroplane' (Chillout Sessions 9) each morning on the way into work. I guess that's where the embellishment has sprung from.

Did I ever tell you I used to be an avid spearfisherman - woman - whatever? I used to adore freediving. So peaceful being underwater - it's like flying.

I won't be working on this last one any more (I like it, but it's not really my style - although Grafuck is looking for submissions!).

I'll be concentrating on the other three over the next few weeks. Updates to come...
